Senior Surveyors lead and manage surveying teams, ensuring all surveying activities are delivered safely, accurately, and in full compliance with CDM Regulations. The role includes reviewing and validating setting‑out data, maintaining survey control networks, and ensuring all work aligns with project specifications and site grid systems. Senior Surveyors also provide technical oversight, quality assurance, and support to the Survey Lead while promoting best practice across all surveying operations.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, manage, and motivate the surveying team, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, responsibly, and in accordance with CDM Regulations.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively to CE’s and Works Coordination Leads, promoting best‑practice surveying methods.
  • Maintain strong communication with the Survey Lead, reporting issues, concerns, and observations promptly.

Surveying Operations & Quality Assurance

  • Manage and report on all surveying activities within the Erection Areas.
  • Review supplied setting‑out data to verify design coordinates against the site grid system, ensuring accuracy and compatibility.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor survey control networks across the site.
  • Perform quality checks on control setups, point accuracy, and survey outputs.
  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with relevant specifications and project requirements.

Technical Delivery & Accuracy

Provide accurate centrelines, level datums, and reference points to support precise installation of equipment.

  • Conduct surveys on pipe spools to produce as‑fabricated data, including bolt‑hole rotations and flange deflections.
  • Carry out as‑built surveys of installed equipment to support construction verification and documentation.

Equipment, Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure all surveying equipment is calibrated, maintained, and fit for purpose.
  • Attend relevant site meetings with project stakeholders to support coordination and planning.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all survey data is available, traceable, and compliant with project standards.
