The Mechanical Fitter supports the delivery of maintenance activities across the site, ensuring plant performance is maintained and improved in line with production demands and regulatory requirements. Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, the role carries out mechanical repairs, inspections, fault‑finding, and preventative maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
Job Responsibilities
Maintenance Delivery
- Carry out maintenance work activities as instructed by the Team Leader.
- Complete job cards to site standards, ensuring accurate and high‑quality maintenance history is recorded.
- Use Maintenance Instructions (MIs) correctly for all relevant tasks and raise any issues with the Team Leader.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed under an appropriate safe system of work.
Plant Performance & Reliability
- Identify and support the delivery of plant and process improvements.
- Proactively contribute to plant reliability through effective monitoring, repair, and preventative maintenance.
- Conduct fault‑finding and proof‑testing on mechanical equipment.
- Read, understand, and follow engineering drawings, including red‑lined drawings, to support equipment identification and isolation.
Safety, Compliance & Standards
- Maintain workplace standards, ensuring correct tools and equipment are used safely and appropriately.
- Comply with all area standards, behavioural expectations, and performance requirements.
- Maintain competence and SQEP status for air‑fed suit working and confined space working.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of plant and process isolation procedures.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Actively participate in team briefs and Lessons From Experience (LFE) reviews, taking ownership of actions to address issues or shortfalls.
- Support a positive team culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deliver personal performance targets as defined by the Maintenance Team Leader.
Training & Development
- Attend all planned training and maintain required competencies.
- Be appointed as a Nominated Person (Mechanical) and carry out duties in accordance with relevant procedures.
