The Transport Infrastructure Engineering Manager leads the delivery of single‑ and multi‑discipline transport projects, ensuring they meet required scope, quality, schedule, and cost targets. As the organisation’s technical authority for transport planning and infrastructure, you will shape transport strategy, guide system design, and provide expert input into site evaluation, regulatory submissions, and stakeholder engagement. This role is central to developing safe, efficient, and future‑ready transport solutions the project and associated programmes.
Technical Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as the organisation’s Subject Matter Expert for Transport Planning and Transport Assessments.
- Act as the technical authority for transport planning and transport infrastructure across the programme.
- Lead the development of transport system requirements and ensure alignment with programme objectives.
- Translate programme needs into practical, engineered transport solutions.
Support Site Evaluation
- Support the Site Evaluation Lot Lead for Transport in developing transport and logistics strategies, feasibility designs, and system assessments.
- Contribute to determining site suitability from a transport perspective and provide meaningful inputs to comparative evaluations.
- Participate in technical review and assurance activities within the team.
- Act as Intelligent Customer for Development Consent Order (DCO) Transport Statements and Transport Assessments.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement
- Support engagement with external stakeholders including Community Partnerships, transport groups, and regulators.
- Contribute to public engagement activities and consultations related to transport infrastructure.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Nuclear Transport Solutions and other strategic partners.
Design & Engineering Delivery
- Support the development of the Initial Concept Design (ICD) transport strategy, scope, and procurement activities.
- Guide transport design development from Initial Concept Design through to DCO submission.
- Support transport infrastructure strategy, design development, and detailed design for Near Surface Disposal.
- Deliver design outputs in collaboration with engineering, safety case, and technical teams.
- Apply strong understanding of the engineering design lifecycle, cost control, and scheduling.
Leadership, Governance & Assurance
- Lead, direct, and control engineering activities to required standards, fostering a performance‑driven culture.
- Provide assurance that engineering processes and procedures are fit for purpose and consistently applied.
- Manage direct reports within the Transport Planning Engineering team and oversee supply chain contractors where appropriate.
- Maintain effective supply chain management and ensure high‑quality delivery.
- Interface with stakeholders, external customers and suppliers.
