The Construction Engineer – Services (SIP) leads, manages, and motivates the construction team, ensuring best‑practice delivery across all discipline‑specific installation activities. The role is accountable for the full lifecycle of service‑related construction scope—from planning and installation through to acceptance—while maintaining strict safety, quality, and schedule performance. This position plays a key part in supporting the Building Lead and ensuring compliance with nuclear safety and site licence requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Construction Delivery & Discipline Ownership

  • Oversee the safe, high‑quality, and timely delivery of discipline‑specific construction scope, including cradle‑to‑grave installation of components.
  • Liaise with subject matter experts (SMEs) and client counterparts to resolve technical issues and maintain alignment.
  • Ensure all construction documentation is compliant with the latest Works Information and supporting project documentation.

Documentation & Configuration Control

  • Maintain ownership of deliverables from initial development through to A‑Accepted status.
  • Keep documents up to date, ensuring periodic reviews and revisions where required.
  • Prioritise and manage documentation to support construction activities in line with the Level 4 plan.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, motivate, and support the construction team through the application of best‑practice methods.
  • Provide line management to team members and deputise for the Building Lead when required.
  • Review resource levels and equipment needs, providing feedback to ensure effective delivery of the support function.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Demonstrate strong HSE leadership and promote a compliant, positive safety culture throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Ensure all activities comply with nuclear safety, site licence conditions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor safety, quality, and schedule adherence through close coordination with other project groups.

Continuous Improvement & Process Support

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance construction processes and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency across the SIP scope.
  • Reporting & Coordination
    Report directly to the Building Lead or nominated deputy, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and issues.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery and effective communication.
