Commercial Managers are responsible for overseeing contracts in line with their level of risk and complexity. They play a key role throughout the full contract lifecycle—supporting procurement activities, managing commercial performance during delivery, and ensuring effective contract close‑out. The role also includes leading and developing Commercial Assistants and Apprentices, while ensuring all commercial deliverables are executed in accordance with company procedures.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide day‑to‑day management, guidance, and support to Commercial Assistants and Commercial Apprentices.
- Promote professional development for both self and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Procurement (Pre‑Award)
- Support and contribute to the procurement process during the pre‑award phase.
- Assist in developing tender documentation, commercial evaluations, and negotiation strategies.
Contract Management (Post‑Award)
- Provide commercial management throughout the execution phase, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Monitor contract performance, manage variations, and support resolution of commercial issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of commercial status and risks.
Contract Close‑Out
- Lead commercial activities required to finalise contract accounts and achieve formal close‑out.
- Ensure all documentation, agreements, and financial settlements are completed in line with procedures.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all commercial deliverables are implemented in accordance with company commercial procedures.
- Maintain strong commercial governance, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all activities.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Identify and address commercial risks, opportunities, and challenges.
